Chainsaw Poems

Hello,
I saw your ad
and I am
very interested.

I don’t have
anything
to cut,

but I am trying
to be better
& embrace
change.

Teaching
myself
to juggle.

Not used
chainsaws
yet.

Only have one
& that’s just
not enough
is it?

Learning that
you don’t saw
something
in half.

There’s this piece
in the middle —
it gets all
gobbled up.

All my jeans
are now cut offs

& my girl,

she looks great
in crop-tops.

Please,
help me carry
my chainsaw.

I’ve got this end
can you just grab
the other?

I tried putting it down
but I’m worried it will
cut through the floor.

It’s really not moving
that fast.

Stop being a pussy.

How d’ya like
my new
haircut?

Going on
a road trip
out West.

Just me
& my
Saw

For now,
everything
out here
is so big.

Do I need to buy
a separate ticket

or can the chainsaw
ride in my lap?

Woah!
Who do you think you are?
You can’t just waltz up
and enter the park
carrying something
like that.

Yosemite is a protected space.
You’ve gotta buy a licence first.

No, I’m sorry.
You see, I tore off
the starter chain.

So I wouldn’t be able
to turn it back on.

No, it’s ok
I won’t be
needing
the steak knife

Do you want
me to…
ummmmmm…
hold that for you?

No thanks,
but if I hold it
like this:

can you still get
both of us
in shot?

Do you need
some firewood?

I have too much.

I don’t even have a fireplace
& they won’t let me burn
anything in the car park anymore.

Against the back door,
I have left
my chainsaw
running.

But please,
don’t panic.
Not everything
is made from wood

I would never
admit it

but sometimes

looking out
the window

I miss the trees.
